Abdu Dhabi, Jan. 14 (BNA): Electricity and Water Affairs Minister, Dr. Abdulhussain bin Ali Mirza, has participated in the opening of the seventh Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), currently held here within the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2017.
Addressing the meeting, the minister highlighted Bahrain?s strategy on renewable energy, and efforts to find suitable sustainable energy alternative, especially solar and wind energy. He also shed light on the role of the Sustainable Energy Unit in this regard. He highlighted the achievements of the Sustainable Energy Unit, including mainly National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP) and the National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP) which were approved by the Cabinet recently. He said the two schemes aim to broaden the use of renewable energy to ensure a secure and sustainable future regarding energy. Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) is a global platform that addresses the interconnected challenges that affect the widespread acceleration and adoption of sustainable development and clean energy. It brings together leaders, ministries and senior officials from 170 countries. WHQ
