ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is boycotting Joint session of the parliament which is being held today at 04:30pm to reaffirm national resolve for safeguarding the sovereignty as well as reiterating the support to the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK).
The session was convened as part of government’s efforts to take political leadership into confidence over the matters of national security amid Indian aggression on the Line of Control (LoC) and violence in IoK.
In a surprise move on Monday, PTI chief Imran Khan an**unced that his party was boycotting today’s Joint session saying “their presence would be like endorsing Nawaz as the prime minister, which his party would **t do.”
Talking to newsmen after the meeting, Imran asserted Nawaz had lost the moral justification to remain the prime minister and was trying to use the Kashmir issue to save himself from the PanamaLeaks investigations.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has criticized PTI’s decision to boycott the Joint sitting when the country needed to convey a message of unity to India.
Until Monday, Nawaz Sharif had the legitimacy but today his authority is being questioned, PTI’s u-turn is beyond any logic, Qamar Zaman Kaira said.
Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said boycott is a sign of Imran’s mental bankruptcy. The minister said his attitude showed that he is deprived of understanding the importance of national issues.
