Islamabad record consolation win with Raheel?s blitz

KARACHI: Raheel Majeed’s unbeaten 72 gave Islamabad a consolation victory over Karachi Blues by 18 runs in their match of National T20 at Multan Stadium in Multan on Sunday night.

Karachi Blues, who had already qualified for the semi-finals stage, could have lost by a much bigger margin without Shahzaib Hasan’s explosive innings of 66 in which he hit three sixes and five fours off 60 deliveries.

When he fell off the first ball of the 18th over, the game was virtually over for Karachi Blues, who were eventually bowled out for 133 on the second ball of the 20th over.

Adil Amin, who dismissed Shahzaib, got three for 31. Mohammad Irfan and Zohaib Ahmed grabbed two wickets each.

Islamabad had scored 151 for the loss of six wickets largely due to Raheel who struck two sixes and five fours in his 49-ball innings.

He was well supported by Abid Ali, who scored 31 off 26 balls.

Bilawal Bhatti, Mohammad Asghar and Saeed Ajmal took two wickets each. Raheel was declared man of the match. The semi-finals will be played on September 15 and the final on 16.
