Obama **minates Muslim to US federal judiciary bench**
"I am pleased to **minate Mr Qureshi to serve on the United States district court bench," the president said in a statement. "I am confident he will serve the American people with integrity and a steadfast commitment to justice." The White House also an**unced that the **mination has been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation as well. Mr Qureshi is currently a partner in the litigation and trial section at the DC ****** of the law firm called Latham & Watkins. According to the profile posted at the firm's website. Qureshi specialises in cases involving False Claims Act, healthcare fraud and securities violations. "Qureshi is an experienced trial lawyer who has served as lead counsel in numerous trials before federal and state courts throughout the country. He has represented clients in state and federal courts, national and international arbitral tribunals and before state and federal regulations," the profile says. He received his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1997 and his BA from Cornell University in 1993. The 2012 edition of the National Law Journal put Mr Qureshi as champion for his pro bo** work, and mentioned him as Pakistani American. The appointment bears significance because of the heightened Islamophobia whipped up by the Republican presidential **minee Donald Trump.
