Heavy mandate of Centre can**t survive sixer, says Chandio
KARACHI: Sindh Information Adviser Maula Bakhsh Chandio has said that the Heavy mandate of the Centre can**t survive a sixer. About the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan, he said the PTI chief was a good person and he wished him well and prayed for his success as he had ventured out for ending corruption in the country. Speaking at a ceremony held here at the Press Club on Wednesday, the information adviser said it was obligatory upon the opposition in a democratic dispensation to take out rallies and do demonstrations but undesirably the government had started competing with the opposition on this front. He said it was obligatory upon the government that instead of fighting with the opposition, it should clarify its position on the scandal of Panama Papers. He said the government should tolerate the protest being staged by the opposition. He admitted that certain rulers through their wrongdoings had caused disappointment among the people about the democratic dispensation instead of strengthening democracy in the country. About Karachi, he said that days when the city could be closed on just a single call of protest are gone. The information adviser said that those who were used to rule the city were bound to get distressed if they were deprived of their powers. He claimed that the issue of banners being hung across major intersections and buildings in the city and containing threatening language by “unidentified persons” had been brought under control. Chandio said that political leaders who had to bear the persecution of the previous martial law regimes in the country were still present. He said he personally liked political leaders who underwent political sufferings. He called upon influential institutions in the state to maintain balance in order to provide justice and listen to all the concerned quarters for rendering justice to everyone. He said that Sindh welcomed everyone coming to the province but ** one should think about conquering the province.
