SINGAPORE — The world's first self-driving taxis started picking up passengers in Singapore on Thursday, says nuTo**my, the vehicle startup here making auto**mous cars.

Its cars have been undergoing trials in the city state for the better part of the past year, and on Thursday started running in a limited 2.5-square-mile business and residential district called one-**rth, with pick-ups and drop-offs limited to specific locations.
