افتراضي ?Bone marrow transplant centre in Children Hospital to be functional soon?

LAHORE: Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Kh Salman Rafique has said that steps are being taken to make the bone marrow transplant centre functional in Children Hospital during the current year.

Presiding over a meeting to review the pace of work on both the projects in Children Hospital here Friday, he said the government had provided Rs700 million for the completion of surgical tower in Mayo Hospital and directed that work on the project must be accelerated to make the surgical tower operational during the current financial year.

Secretary Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education Najam Ahmed Shah, Dean Children Hospital Prof Masood Sadiq, Medical Director Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore, Additional Secretary (Technical) Dr Salman Shahid, Chief Planning ******r Abdul Haq Bhatti, Mayo Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Amjad Shehzad, Project Director Surgical Tower Prof Abrar Ashraf and others were present on the occasion.

Prof Ahsan Rathore informed that the paediatric cancer ward of Children Hospital had been expanded from 30 beds to 60 beds and all latest facilities for the treatment of hematology and paediatric oncology were being provided in the ward.

He said completion of bone marrow transplantation was also in its final stage. Training of doctors and nursing staff for the centre had already been completed. Dean Prof Masood Sadiq said bone marrow transplant centre would be a ray a hope for the Children suffering from blood cancer.

The meeting was informed that 90 percent civil work of surgical tower in Mayo Hospital had been completed and 80 percent installation work of HVAC system had also been completed.Prof Abrar Ashraf informed procurement process of medical equipment for the surgical tower had also been started. Kh Salman Rafique directed that since the government had provided sufficient funds for the completion of surgical tower; therefore, the completion of surgical tower must be carried out on fast track.
