Rajnath hurried back home after Nisar?s defence of Kashmir
Highly-placed diplomatic sources told The News that Rajnath raised the issue of calling Burhan Muzaffar Wani as a “martyr” by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and came out with a straight threat to Pakistan. It was sheer violation of the Saarc Charter and diplomatic ethics. The host Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had to surrender the chair and hand it over to the Secretary Interior Arif Ahmad Khan and availed himself of the right to reply as the representative of the country. He took on the Indian position and brutalized it by telling the conference that there was a mark difference between terrorism and freedom struggle. The freedom struggle of people of Kashmir has the sanction of the United Nations and their case is pending with the Security Council. “Kashmiris have legitimate right to struggle and they are struggling for their birthright of self-determination. **body in the world could deny them the right.” Like an astute diplomat, Nisar Ali Khan shattered the Indian case while taking every care in picking the words. He didn’t take name of any country or even any person but made it clear that it was India and its home Minister Rajnath Singh who lacked manners, diplomatic **rms and decency. The day belonged to Chaudhry Nisar who carried it by his arguments and keeping his cool. The Indian minister skipped the lunch as he had to visit the Prime Minister’s House. The delegates kept on waiting for the Indian minister and his entourage who instead had his lunch in his hotel room and slipped away from there. He didn’t bother to wait for goodbye or shake hands with Nisar. He silently boarded the Indian Border Security Force (IBSF) special plane.
