Second phase of BSF and Pak Rangers meeting to be held today

LAHORE: The Second round of the meeting between Pakistan Rangers and India Border Security Force (BSF) would be held on Thursday, to discuss matters related to confrontation between the two sides.

The first day of the talks was convened at the Rangers Headquarters on Wednesday in which a range of issues including prevention of cross-border smuggling, swift return of people mistakenly crossing the border and incidents of unprovoked firing at the Line of Control (LOC) were discussed.

During the meeting, the request of the Indian delegation to make the Pathankot attack as part of the agenda was rejected by Pakistan. The Pakistani side said that the incident was an internal matter of India.

The Pakistan Rangers was led by DG Rangers Major General Umar Farooq Burki while the Indian contingent was headed by DG BSF Krishan Kumar Sharma.

Both border forces would be discussing professional matters in relation to border management and a joint statement would be issued after the meeting.

The Indian delegation would leave for their country in the evening.
