BIOTRONIK’s New Pacemakers and CRT-P’s with MRI AutoDetect Sensor
 BIOTRONIK has unveiled its brand new Edora Pacemakers and*cardiac resynchronization therapy Pacemakers (CRT-Ps) following CE Mark approval in Europe. These devices feature BIOTRONIK’s ProMRI capability that allows for safe MRI scans, but also the new MRI AutoDetect Sensor that automatically puts the implants into safe mode when the patient enters a scanner. This allows the implants to provide therapy for as long as possible, pausing only during the scan while making things easier for physicians and MRI techs. The Pacemakers have approval to be safe, given certain conditions, to go into scanners of 1.5 and 3 Tesla. While the Sensor does set the implants in safe mode, it requires a physician to turn on the Sensor ** more than two weeks before the exam. Following the scan the implants send out a report to the physician on their status via the firm’s Home Monitoring platform. BIOTRONIK hopes that this capability will allow for easier management of patients so that physicians won’t have to reprogram the implants before and after the exams, rather it can be done at convenient times for everyone involved.
