Adviser to Chief Minister Sindh on Information and Archives Maula Buksh Chandio on Sunday appealed to the Supreme Court (SC) to take a suo motu action against the federal power utility, Wapda, for carrying out prolonged load shedding in Sindh on a daily basis. Terming the practice a violation of human rights, Chandio remarked that since the federal government was too disinterested in redressing complaints, the Sindh government was left with ** choice but to appeal to the apex court to take a stern action against Wapda. He said the people needed uninterrupted electricity supply during Ramazan, as well as on pre and post-Eid days; but the province’s woes would only be mitigated if the SC intervened. The advisor to CM claimed that the power utility was carrying out around 16 to 18 hours of load shedding in rural Sindh by Wapda and its power distribution companies Hesco and Sepco, while those residing in towns faced around eight hours, sometimes even more, of power outages every day. “It is, thus, a need of the hour that the SC takes **tice of the power outages that have wreaked havoc on the lives of ordinary citizens,” he said. Further taking the city’s power utility to task, Chandio said that K-Electric (KE) had also increased durations of load shedding in the metropolis during Ramazan. “The KE is bent upon sending inflated bills to people and disconnecting power supply of those who could **t pay the inflated bills,” he added, warning the KE to stop overbilling citizens and carrying out load shedding for increased hours or face a strict action from the authorities. The advisor asked people to file FIRs in police stations if anyone in their dies due to load shedding, while complaints should also be submitted against Wapda and KE for unjustified load shedding, power failures and inflated bills with the federal and Sindh ombudsmen. Chandio said the federal government, Wapda and KE had also badly failed to fulfil their promise of reduced load shedding hours in Sindh during Ramazan, and it was feared that the power entities would also carry out load shedding on Eid. He said Wapda had ** mercy to offer to people of Sindh braving power outages amid the scorching heat wave. “People are passing sleepless nights while several have reported to have been hospitalised,” Chandio concluded. In a statement issued a day earlier, the advisor to CM had said that the country on the one hand was sizzling under the extremely hot weather, and on the other, the country’s power shortfall had crossed the 6,000MW to the federal government’s lethargy. “According to a report, the total national demand, excluding that of Karachi, peaked at 19,500MW against the generation of 15,886MW. The thermal sector generated some 9,900MW; hydel 4,850MW and wind 175MW,” the adviser pointed out. He said the electricity was important for social life, industries, agriculture and the overall eco**my, and Pakistan’s national progress depended on the electricity and other energy sources, but ironically Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was had still **t done anything for the province to be provided the required electricity. أكثر... ??????? ??????: Chandio urges SC to take suomotu action against Wapda || ??????: ahlam1399 || ??????: اسم منتداك
