In a public hearing that was presided over by Vice Chairman Himayatullah Khan, the Nepra concluded that the distribution companies had charged Rs6.77 per unit on account of fuel cost to consumers in May but the actual fuel cost was significantly lower. The authority **ted that the actual cost of the electricity generation, for the month of May, was Rs3.49 per unit and decided that Rs3.32 per unit should be returned to the consumers. The average cost of per unit remained at Rs3.45 per unit while the consumers were charged Rs6.77 per unit. This adjustment/relief will be available to domestic consumers in entire Pakistan, except in Karachi where the K-Electric (**w a privatised company) is distributing its own generated electricity to the city and is **t covered under this package. It will also be **t available to the lifeline consumers consuming up to 300 units per month, as they are already enjoying subsidised electricity.
