JIT records Sarfraz Merchant's statement on alleged MQM-RAW links

According to details, the Interior Ministry's Joint Investigation Committee (JIT) has recorded the complete statement of businessman Sarfraz Merchant in connection with MQM's alleged contacts with Indian intelligence agency RAW.

The drafting of Sarfraz Merchant's statement is likely to be completed by this week.

In his latest statement, Sarfraz Merchant has confirmed his earlier recorded statement. It is expected that the JIT will record statements of a few other persons in connection with Merchant's statement.

Among these persons are also two senior representatives of MQM and PPP.

Sarfraz Merchant, a UK-based businessman, is also a suspect in the money laundering case that involves senior leadership of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM). Last month, he had flown from UK and provided documentary evidence to the FIA regarding the money laundering case.
