One of the often looked over side effects of the refugee crisis in Europe is the massive amount of waste piling up on the small Greek islands on at the frontline of the crisis.

Thousands of news arrivals are pouring onto the islands daily, packed onto small rubber dinghies, traveling from wearing bright orange life jackets which are quickly discarded on the beach.* For many, This is their first entry point into Europe, before they hope to move on to more prosperous countries in the **rth and west of the continent

But some volunteers on the island of Lesbos have a **vel new approach to dealing with some of the waste by upcycling the rubber from the boats and the straps from the life vests into waterproof bags. Read more...
