Is an invagination of one portion of the intestine into a**ther, which results in decreased blood supply of the involved segment.
? Manifestations
1- Sudden intervals episode of sever abdominal pain manifested in an infant by drawing knees up to chest with crying.
2- Stool mixed with blood and mucus (currant jelly stool)
3- Fever.
4- Vomiting.
5- The abdomen become tender and distended
( sausage- shaped mass may felt in the upper right quadrant)
6- Signs of dehydration or shock may be present [sunken eyes, loss of skin turgor].
Treatment:
* The initial treatment of choice is **nsurgical hydrostatic reduction by barium enema.
* If **nsurgical reduction is unsuccessful, a surgical reduction is indicated.
