ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal confirmed Monday that 13 Pakistani nationals including eight
children and four women living in
Jordan were burnt to death when a
fire broke out in their tent Monday.In a statement, Dr Faisal said three other
Pakistanis were also injured in the
fire incident and are reported to be in stable condition. He said all the victims were living near Karameh city which is 40 km west of Amman near the Dead Sea. The spokesperson said the victims belonged to Joya family from Dadu district in Sindh and added that the head of family Ali Sher Joya has survived in the incident.The family migrated from Pakistan to
Jordan in 1970s and was associated with farming. The
fire reportedly broke out at around 2 am on December 2. The cause of
fire has been reported as short circuit, he added.Pakistani embassy in Amman is in contact with the family and relatives of the deceased living in Jordan, the spokesperson said and added that the ambassador and other senior officials are with the family for providing any urgent assistance. The ministry of foreign affairs has instructed the embassy for extending assistance to the bereaved family.
