Democrats over border security before heading to Texas to make his own case.

Trump on Monday blasted
Democrats over border-security talks as Washington was scrambling to avoid a fresh government
shutdown at the end of the week.
‘CRAZY!’ DEMAND
With funding for several government agencies due to expire Friday in the absence of a border-security deal,
Trump said on Twitter that
Democrats have a new demand that’s “crazy.†Talks have stalled partly because of Democrats’ desire to cap the number of beds available to hold detained immigrants.
“The
Democrats do not want us to detain, or send back, criminal aliens!â€
Trump tweeted. “This is a brand new demand. Crazy!†Lawmakers were
set to resume talks Monday in an effort to avoid another
shutdown this weekend. Discussions will focus on limiting the number of beds and funding levels for barriers.
Trump is scheduled to visit El Paso Monday night to speak about
border security.
AI EXECUTIVE ORDER
Trump was also set to sign an executive order directing federal agencies to prioritize research and development in artificial intelligence.
The plan is dubbed the American AI Initiative and comes after China among other countries has pledged investments to apply the technology. But as the Associated Press
reported, the White House plan doesn’t have funding details and the administration says it’s up to Congress to approve money.

IRAN ANNIVERSARY TWEET
Trump used the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Iran’s Islamic revolution to blast the country on Twitter in English, and in a tweet translated into Farsi.
“40 years of corruption. 40 years of repression. 40 years of terror. The regime in Iran has produced only #40YearsofFailure. The long-suffering Iranian people deserve a much brighter future,†said Trump, who withdrew the U.S. from the Iran nuclear deal in May 2018.
