Launch High-Speed Wi-Fi Network



Amtrak is planning to create its own
High-Speed Wi-Fi Network for passengers on its **rtheast Corridor lines
The network, which would offer a boost in speeds from the current 10 Mbps to a minimum of 25 Mbps, would span the entire 457-mile stretch of
Amtrak's **rtheast Corridor, which runs from Boston through New York to Washington, D.C.

Currently, there are ** specific plans in place, but the company is
accepting bids to build a proof-of-concept version of the project. An
Amtrak spokesperson told
Mashable that the company is hoping to move the project along rapidly with "possible construction of a test program in Winter 2014/2015."
