The PSSM mare had her
hocks x-rayed 14 months ago and they showed pretty significant arthritic changes. She was 6 and had barely done any ridden work so it's either genetic or linked through to the muscle issues. For various weight and illness related reasons she didn't have
injections into them at the time.I don't enjoy riding her most of the time. She's hard work to get going and I feel it's a constant battle to keep her in front of my leg. I paid for a v experienced rider to school her when I was ill and although she got her shifting there was a lot of whip involved and I had an unhappy horse. Not really wanting to go back there.Current vet thinks 7 is too young to start
steroid injections into the joints. I'm thinking that it's either that or ..... well, don't know really. To be brutally honest her life expectancy isn't going to be long and active
into her 20s. What have I got to lose?anyone else have them injected young?
