Issues First Same-*** Marriage License After Ban Overturned



The ban on
same-*** marriage in
Arkansas was
Overturned Friday by Pulaski County Circuit Judge Christopher Piazza, who ruled the ban unconstitutional
Piazza's ruling directly challenges Arkansas'
Act 144 of 1997, which states, "Marriage shall be only between a man and a woman. A
Marriage between persons of the same *** is void," and
Amendment 83 of the state's constitution, which states, "Marriage consists only of the union of one man and one woman."
