"Listen to your children and treat them as a grown-up," Adler says
And while they echo the same sentiments of pride and joy that
Moms in 2014 feel, the 100-year-olds did have one particular hardship that stands out — they raised children during wartime
"When you see your kid go away, and you see the papers with casualties, it was shattering," Adler says. "You think about all those thousands of boys who died there, for what?"
