kerosene Among petroleum products is
affected by the price
freeze **w in effect in Mindanao, the Department of Energy said on Tuesday. "Under RA 10623,
only the
petroleum product, kerosene, is
affected by the price
freeze being implemented in Mindanao," the DOE said in a statement. "The price
freeze for
kerosene will be effective until 7 June 2017, or 15 days from the declaration of martial law," it added. The DOE said the
freeze on
kerosene was imposed "with due consideration to the emergency situation in Marawi City as government forces try to clear the area of Maute Group terrorists." The DOE said the measure was to ensure "the protection of the
affected city residents from price manipulations." The Department of Trade and Industry, for its part, already implemented a price
freeze on necessities and prime commodities following the declaration of martial law by President Rodrigo Duterte. The price
freeze covers Regions 9, 10, 11, 12 and Caraga. Late week, Duterte declared Martial Law for 60 days in
Mindanao amid an armed-conflict between government troops and the ISIS-inspired Maute group, which occupied parts of Marawi City, the capital of Lanao del Sur Province. â??Anna Felicia Bajo/NB, GMA News
