Sometimes, art begets art. And sometimes, it destroys it.
Case in point: just days after Yayoi Kusama's immersive
Infinity Mirrors debuted at Washington D.C.'s Hirshhorn Museum and
sculpture Garden, a visitor crushed one of her signature pumpkins
while trying to
take a selfie.

According to Artnet, a similar pumpkin sold at auction for nearly
0,000 in 2015. So this was a pretty expensive goof.
The room containing the smashed pumpkin — which has attracted legions of selfie-takers since it opened — shut down following the incident, but fret **t, pumpkin-lovers: it
will reopen soon in all its Instagram-friendly glory.
