Thousands of women took to the streets of Manchester, UK, on Thursday evening to
protest ***ual violence, street harassment and victim blaming.
The first
"Reclaim the Night" march took place in 1977 after police implemented a curfew while the "Yorkshire Ripper" — an English ****** killer who murdered 13 women between 1975 and 1980 — was active in the **rth of England.*
Women across the country were angered when Yorkshire police told local women **t to go out at night, effectively putting them under curfew. On **v. 12, 1966, women marched in cities across the UK to fight for a woman's right to walk without fear at night.*
