Islamabad: Federal
Minister for
human rights Kamran Michael has urged the international community and international
human rights organisations to come forward
against the
violations of
human rights and brutalities of India in
Kashmir Valley.
He said that India is committing serious
violations of
human rights in Indian occupied Kashmir. He said that while talking to the European Union diplomats at a gathering organised in Islamabad. The event was also attended by officials from ministry of foreign affairs, representatives of United Nations and do**r agencies.
He said that the Government of Pakistan has taken many steps to ensure the
human rights particularly the
rights of women and mi**rity. The
Minister briefed the diplomats about the prevailing law and order situation in the Indian
held Kashmir and
violations of
human rights in
Kashmir Valley.
While talking to the diplomats,
Minister said Pakistan had rendered great sacrifices to curb the wave of militancy and terrorism and for the peace of entire region. He said Pakistan s entering into the new phase of development and stability.
He said that Pakistan fully supports the Freedom movement of the people of IHK and will continue its political and diplomatic support for the freedom fighters. He asked the international community to take immediate and appropriate steps to redress the protracted grievances of Kashmiri people.
Minister said that award of GSP Plus status shows the confidence of international markets in the excellent quality and standard of Pakistani products. The
Minister also highlighted the steps underway for ensuring the protection of
human rights in Pakistan.
Diplomats appreciated the endeavours of government for the promotion and protection of
human rights in Pakistan and assured their full support to resolve the issue of Kashmir.Earlier, the federal
Minister convened the meeting of the National Task Force for
human Rights. The
Federal
Minister for
human rights Kamran Michael would be the ex officio Chairman of the National Task force for
human rights.The meeting also decided to constitute the Committees for
human rights throughout the Pakistan at the provincial, district and sub division level.
Addressing the meeting, the
Minister stressed the need to further improve the capacity and working potential of government departments at provincial and district level. “The Constitution of Pakistan guarantees equal
rights for all the citizens of the state irrespective of any caste, region, colour, race and deity”, he added.
Minister stated that to achieve this Constitutional guarantee, it is necessary to strengthen the Institutions of the state.
Federal minister, Kamran Michael said the members of the National Task Force should endeavour to redress the grievances of the citizens in the light of the governmental policy. He said we are trying to ensure the protection and respect of the
rights of the oppressed classes including the Women and Mi**rities at any cost adding that steps have been taken in this regard.
