KARACHI: A panel of medical specialists and consultants at the Liaquat National Hospital (LNH) on Monday
admitted Chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan) Dr Farooq
Sattar for next couple of days for
observation after he was slightly injured in a
road accident near **oriabad on the Super Highway.
Dr Farooq Sattar, his driver and two of his guards suffered
serious injuries when his double-cabin vehicle overturned
after hitting into barricades on the Super Highway on Sunday night. The MQM Pakistan Chief had been first taken to the AO clinic in Nazimabad where doctors,
after examining his x-ray, declared that **
serious fracture occurred but he required CT scan of skull to access any damage to his nervous system.
Two guards of MQM chief and his driver were taken to the Abbassi Shaheed Hospital and from there one of the police guard, whose condition was reported to be extremely critical, was shifted to the Ziauddin Hospital for surgery and intensive care.
“A panel of 12 doctors, including a neurologist, an orthopaedic surgeon, specialist and several other consultants, examined Dr Farooq
Sattar and found him fit and healthy
after performing CT scan of his skull and medical examinations of other body parts,” Anjum Rizvi, a spokesman for the LNH said on Monday.
He said doctors have, however, decided to admit Dr
Sattar for next three to four days for observing his condition as he had some ‘bumps’ in the head and they wanted to monitor his condition for next couple of days. “CT scans and other tests would be repeated for next two days and if ** further treatment is required, Dr
Sattar would be discharged as he is in good spirits”, Rizvi added.
MQM and other political leaders, workers and government functionaries visited the Liaquat National Hospital on Monday evening and
despite requests from the doctors, tried to meet the injured leader and enquire about his health.
Sindh minister for local government Jam Khan Shoro , Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Nehal Hashmi, Awami National Party Sindh President Senator Shahi Syed, Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Shehla Raza, Jamat-e-Islami Karachi Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur Rehman and several other leaders visited the hospital and inquired about the health of injured Muttahida leader. Pak Sarzameen Party chairman Mustafa Kamal also expressed concern over the
accident and prayed for early recovery of Dr Farooq Sattar.
Meanwhile, doctors at the LNH urged well-wishers and political workers to avoid visiting the hospital to Dr Farooq Sattar, saying that he was in good spirits but required rest and medicine to recover from the shock. They said that those wishing to meet the MQM leader could do so
after he was discharged from the hospital. “Family members and close friends of Dr
Sattar are with him and monitoring his health, while hospital would keep people updated through media regarding Dr Sattar’s health”, a senior doctor at the LNH said.
