SUKKUR: The
future of thousands of
street children is uncertain after
Termination of the Taleem Aam
education voucher scheme (EVS).
This correspondent has learnt that the
education Fund for Sindh had launched the Taleem Aam
education Vouchers
scheme funded by the UK government to bring the
street children to schools.
Sources said that the EFS had signed a five-year school participation agreement under the
education voucher scheme with schools in the private sector in Khairpur and Qamber-Shahdadpur to accommodate
street children in their schools, with the EFS bearing the expenses of tuition fees and other related items. However, the
scheme was officially terminated all of a sudden, putting the
future of thousands of
street children in jeopardy.
Sources said that some private school owners have been running from pillar to post to find out why the
scheme was terminated and what is to become of all the
street children who had been accommodated in schools under the scheme, but their queries have **t been answered by the people concerned so far.
