LAHORE: The Lahore High Court issued a stay order on execution of a
seniority list containing 60 officials and directed the
Pemra chairman to submit an
explanation by 30th of this month.
During the hearing on Monday, Shehzada Mazhar, the counsel for
Pemra Lahore Assistant Manager Hafiz Jamil Asghar, argued that the
chairman had formulated the
seniority list by creating eight categories to accommodate the favourites. As a result, the senior officials had become junior and the juniors were seniors, he explained.
He said the
Pemra chairman had also summoned a meeting of the departmental promotion committee next week to implement the controversial
seniority list, alleging that the senior officials were being ig**red in promotion.
The counsel requested the court to issue orders for staying the process and promoting the officials according to the law. The court remarked that preparing
seniority lists on the basis of categories was seemingly unlawful and sought an
explanation from Pemra chairman Absar Alam by the 30th.
