'Metroid:
Federation Force' gets a new
video and a
free demo

Metroid: Federation Force is more than just the four-player competitive "Blast Ball" mode — think rugby, but with laser guns — that some fans got
angry about last year. There's also a mode where you can shoot at alien beasts, with or without friends.
That cooperative mode is the focus of a new
video from Nintendo, which offers an extended look at some raw gameplay. It can be played solo or online, but this
demo features local play — four people in the same room, all playing on separate 3DS handhelds.
Federation Force arrves on Aug. 19, but starting Thursday 3DS owners can visit the Nintendo eShop and grab Blast Ball for free. The
demo will remain playable until early September, when the servers switch over to support the full game.
