Microsoft
won't have 1
billion ******* devices by
2018 after all



At its Build conference back in 2015,
Microsoft set for itself a particularly ambitious goal:
have 1 billion devices running
******* 10 by mid–2018.
But **w that we’re more than halfway through 2016,
Microsoft has backed off of that figure, admitting that goal was just a little bit too big.*

In a
statement to
ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley,
Microsoft said (emphasis ours):*
In other words, when
******* chief Terry Myerson made the claim that there would be 1
billion ******* 10 devices, that was back when the company still thought
******* on mobile
devices had a chance. Even
Microsoft has
all but conceded that’s **t going to happen – niche handsets **twithstanding.*
