Councillor attempts suicide in protest against govt

GUJRANWALA: A councillor attempted suicide in protest against the Punjab government for **t empowering the LG representatives here on Tuesday.
Liaqat Ali, a councillor from Nadala Sandwan, of the PTI climbed up on an electric pole and chanted slogans against the government for **t giving them powers to resolve problems of their areas.
In the meantime, a large number of people gathered there. They negotiated with him and succeeded to convince him **t to commit suicide. To it, he came down from the pole.
