KABUL: US Senator John McCain has asked Pakistan to take practical steps against the **torious Haqqani Network, which is accused of numerous deadly attacks in Afghanistan, foreign media reported.
The
Haqqani Network is believed to have safe havens in
Pakistan from where it plans and coordinates attacks
against Afghan and US forces.
Senator
McCain arrived in Afghanistan on Tuesday after concluding his visit to Pakistan, leading a delegation of high-level US Senators.
In his meeting with Chief Executive ******r Abdullah Abdullah, Senator
McCain said he
asked the Pakistani officials to
take steps in the fight
against terrorism, insisting that a good environment had been created to eliminate the menace of terrorism.
Senator
McCain further added that the United States would continue to support Afghanistan until terrorism had been fully uprooted from the country and the region.
The
Haqqani Network is accused of staging numerous cross-border attacks from their base in **rth Waziristan, including the 19-hour siege at the US Embassy in Kabul in September 2011.
