Airbnb
sues its
hometown of San
Francisco to
block new
rental law

Airbnb is **t feeling much
hometown pride these days.
The short-term property
rental company is suing San
Francisco in an effort to
block a new law which would require hosts to register with the city. **
The law, which was passed
unanimously by the*Board of Supervisors in June, requires short-term
rental companies to verify that their users are registered with the city, and to remove listings that are **t. Companies that disregard the law could face fines of up to
$1000 per illegal listing, per day. They could also face misdemea**r charges.*
That means
Airbnb could be forced to write checks if it doesn't adequately enforce the registration requirement.
