Celine Dion made
an amazing and emotional return to the stage on Sunday night when she attended the
Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas. The big night marked the singer's first TV performance since
losing her beloved husband, René Angélil, to throat cancer in January. Celine, who returned to her Las Vegas residency show just six weeks after her husband's death, took the stage at the T-Mobile Arena and belted out Queen's hit "The Show Must Go On." She was then presented the
Billboard Icon Award by her 15-year-old son, René-Charles.
Celine
opened up about the heartwarming surprise to
Entertainment Tonight, saying, "To try to perform that song without collapsing was big e**ugh, and then I turned around and I saw my son. As a mother, I really, through this whole process of our new life,
Wanted to be strong. I thought I was going to make it through the whole night without tears and show strength, and love won. I just collapsed. I'm very thankful for the award and proud of my family so much."
