Bokhari and his son Jarrar
Bokhari were granted protective bails by a district court on Friday. The court directed
Bokhari and his son to submit bail bonds worth Rs20,000.
Earlier, a local court on May 5 had issued arrest warrants for
Bokhari and his son for thrashing policeman Muhammad Riaz at the gate of the F/8 district courts. The Margallah Police registered a case against them under Section 506, 34 and 353, 186.
Online adds: Talking to the media after appearing before the court,
Bokhari said the government was
using ugly tactics to
divert public attention from the
Panama Leaks. He declared the case against him part of these tactics. He said the Islamabad District Bar had resolved the smacking issue, but the police, at the behest of the interior minister, registered bogus cases against him. He said when he entered the court premises on Friday, the police and commandos surrounded him to stop him
from appearing before the court. After interference by the court, the police let him appear before it to prove his in**cence.A large number of PPP workers and lawyers were present on the occasion.
