I’ll tell you what Cruz did.
Shortly before the column deadline, Saturday morning, we got a call from his lawyer.
I didn’t take it but I’m told she’s a nice young woman from Pepperdine. She said, in effect, “watch your ass.”
Which is a hell of a warning, really, because I practiced law far longer than Cruz or his girl have. And I’ll be alive in
politics When they’re six feet under.
A call to watch your ass means the other guy is desperate to cover his own. It’s a reflex, and relying on that is a dumb way to fight.
To hell with Cruz. I won’t embarrass my mother by repeating the allegations against him. They’re easy to find. The women named so far are public figures.
