The*Revenant director*Alejandro G.
Iñárritu — among several other men seated in the section — refused to
clap after Jenny Beavan won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design for her work on
Mad Max: Fury Road. Beavan — who has been **minated 10 times and **w won twice — was up against*
Revenant's costume designer
*Jacqueline West.*

Some speculated that*Iñárritu wasn't clapping after becoming irritated that
Mad Max was sweeping the technical categories, while others wondered if the men seated in that area were judging*Beavan for her unique outfit. Others still suggested that those in the video simply
didn't clap because Beavan may have taken too long to walk to the stage.*
