A Palestinian man has been shot dead near the border with Israel. The army says it fired at two men who approached a security fence and ig**red warnings to stop. But relatives say the man had been searching for song birds that fetch high prices in Gaza markets. Amid a surge in Israeli-Palestinian unrest, a Palestinian home has also been set on fire in the occupied West Bank. The owners say the attack was carried out by Jewish settlers, with ?Death to Arabs? scrawled on a wall in Hebrew. A neighbour of the family targeted said: ?I*received*a*call*telling*me*the*settlers had entered the village. I went with my son and as we reached the house they ran away, but they had already lit the fire and caused the damage.? The attack came on the same day Israel charged a policeman with manslaughter over the fatal shooting of a teenage Palestinian protester. It is alleged the ******r switched his rubber bullets with live rounds.
