Covidien’s New ReliaTack Fixation Device for Laparoscopic Hernia Repair

Covidien has just launched the brand new ReliaTack articulating fixation device for laparoscopic hernia repair procedures. The business end of the unit can swing up to a 65-degree angle for easier access within the abdominal wall when placing screw-like tacks that hold up the retaining mesh.*The device is reloadable and the tacks come in sets of five or ten.

The company believes that the new device will help surgeons more confidently secure the hernia, leading to a an improved final hold. By relying on only one device to attach the mesh, the procedure can be made faster and cheaper.
