OITNB Writer Divorces Husband After Starting Romance With Samira Wiley

Lauren Morelli, a writer for the hit Netflix show, has filed for divorce from her husband of two years, Steve Basilone, and is **w dating actress Samira Wiley, who plays Poussey Washington on the show. Lauren came out as a lesbian back in May when she penned an essay for Identities.Mic to talk about how working on the show helped her come to terms with her ***ual identity. She wrote:

"I realized I was gay in fall 2012, one of my first days on the set. It wasn't so much one thing, but the sum of many small details: how uncomfortable I felt around groups of lesbians or how I considered myself (shrug) a '**t very ***ual person.' When considered alone, these seemed like little quirks that made me me. Wanting to read a book instead of have *** is a perfectly reasonable preference to have, right? [ . . . ] I am **w out to my family, my friends and most of my co-workers on Orange (and **w to you, dear reader). **w, when I am in the writers' room or on set, I ** longer feel like I am stuck in the middle of two truths. I belong because my own narrative fits in alongside the fictional stories that we are telling on the show: stories of people finding themselves, of difficult paths and of redemption. "

Lauren and Samira made their first public appearance as a couple at the Emmy Awards in August. However, their romance went largely un**ticed until Lauren and Steve, who also works as a TV writer, filed their joint divorce petition.
