Al Ain convincingly progressed past Al Ittihad in the quarter-finals, winning away in Saudi Arabia 3-1 on the night to secure a 5-1 aggregate victory. Goals from Asamoah Gyan, Omar Abdulrahman and*Ibrahim Diaky cancelled out Ittihad's opener and ensured the 2003 winners reached the semi-final stage of the competition for the first time in nine years.
