No Time to Die writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge explains how she added to the script
 

She’s the creative mind behind the likes of Fleabag and Killing Eve, so it’s not at all surprising to learn that Phoebe Waller-Bridge was hired as a writer on the upcoming James Bond movie, No Time to Die.

Revealing her role in the writing room, Phoebe spoke to Chris Evans on his Virgin Radio show and explained that she was asked by producers to do “dialogue polishes” and offer “different alternatives” to scenes (via The Independent).

Reportedly put in place to help the 007 franchise with its portrayal of women, Waller-Bridge previously said that she would be doing “tweaks across a few of the characters and a few of the storylines.”

Giving fans a greater insight into the process of script-polishing, Phoebe told Chris Evans: “They did give me some scenes and then be like, ‘Can you write some alternatives for this or have another idea about where it could go in the middle or how it would end?’

“And then I would just give them options and various scenes and then they would take what they want.” So, all of it, we presume?

Revealing that the writing process on No Time to Die was like being in a “melting pot of everybody’s ideas the whole time”, the Fleabag creator also credited director Cary Fukunaga and Daniel Craig for the changes.

“There was a lot people writing â?? the director was a writer on it as well, and there’d been a few writers before. You know, Daniel is really, really involved from the beginning.

“[I had] so many great conversations with him about it, constantly in touch with him about it. So it’s a big sort of melting pot of everybody’s ideas the whole time.”

Elsewhere, No Time to Die was recently confirmed as the longest Bond film to date, with a running time of 163 minutes. That’s a bum-numbing 2 hours and 43 minutes, for the maths-phobic.

No Time to Die, the 25th James Bond movie, has a UK release date of April 2, 2020, and opens in the US on April 10, 2020. All the previous Bond movies are available on DVD or Blu-ray.
