Thor 4?s Taika Waititi teases Jane storyline potential
 

Oscar-winner Taika Waititi has reflected on the potential for Natalie Portman’s character in upcoming MCU blockbuster Thor: Love and Thunder.

Portman’s time in the superhero universe hasn’t been the most eventful up to now, but with the development of the fourth Thor movie, Waititi is ready to unleash Jane Foster in a thunderous new light.

As the female Thor, how could her storyline shape up?

Speaking to Variety recently, Waititi was asked how closely Love and Thunder will stick to the comics â?? specifically the story of Jane battling cancer.

“We don’t know,” he confirmed. “That comics run was a big inspiration and was an influence on the first few drafts. But at Marvel, we always change everything.

“I could say one thing right now, and in two years, it will be the complete opposite â?? or that thing won’t exist. We continue writing even in post-production.”

Working on the script while editing a movie is somewhat unconventional, but Waititi said it’s all based “on what the audience wants”.

He explained: “We test the film. We shot for two weeks on Thor [Ragnarok] <em/>with our pick-ups. There were huge, huge character changes, huge story changes. We re-shot entire scenes.

“I think that’s why [Marvel] do good work. They’re relentless in their pursuit of just a good movie.”

Thor: Love and Thunder has a release date of November 5, 2021.
