Travel and holiday writing encompasses a variety of sub-genres that, nowadays can even include accounts of spaceflight, within the sub-genre of specialty travel, written by one of the comparatively small number of astronauts or cosmonauts, or accounts of their space travels written by another author from different viewpoints. Travel writing includes experiences recorded by an author who tours around from place to place for the sheer pleasure of travel. Holidays involving specialty travel now include space trips for those millionaires who can afford to pay for their pleasure. More modest specialty travel includes safari trips to Kenya or the South African veld, or trips to Madagascar to visit the native species of Lima primates.
