3 killed as heavy rain lashes parts of KP
 

PESHAWAR: Three persons were killed in a rain-related incident as heavy shower lashed different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of the country, including the provincial metropolis on Monday.A woman and her two daughters were killed when the roof of a house collapsed at Karbogha Sharif in the jurisdiction of Doaba Police Station in Thall tehsil of Hangu district late Sunday night. The dead were identified as Minhaz Bibi wife of Zenatullah and her seven-year-old daughter Wafa Bibi and four-year-old Madina Bibi. According to the police, the local people rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies from the debris and shifted them to Doaba hospital.The rain also caused severe difficulties to residents in the provincial capital where rainwater inundated low-lying areas blocking drainage and badly disrupting communication system. Main roads in the provincial capital were inundated as rainwater was flowing in the streets and roads due to blockage of drains.The accumulation of the rainwater disrupted traffic flow on Bara Road, Surey Pul Chowk, University Road, Stadium Chowk, Charsadda Road and other localities.There were also reports of rain from other parts of the province. According to the Meteorological Department, Peshawar received 52 millimeter rain till evening followed by Malam Jabba and Cherat with 39, Dir (lower 32, upper 22), Saidu Sharif 23, Bannu 20, Bannu 18, Parachinar 16, Mirkhani 15, Dera Ismail Khan 13, Balakot 10, Bisham 09, Kakul, Pattan 08, Drosh 07, Kalam 02. In Punjab Multan, Kamra, Mandi Bahauddin had received 19, DG Khan 18, Islamabad (Golra 17, Saidpur 15, Z.P. 14, Bokra 11, A/P 09), Mangla 17, Layyah 16, Bakker 14, Rawalpindi (Shamsabad 14, Chaklala 12), Murree 13, Kot Addu 11, Sialkot (A/P 10, Cantt 06), Lahore (City 09, A/P 05), Jhelum, Khanpur 09, Bahawalpur (A/P 08 city 05), Gujrat, Jhang 08, Joharabad, Noorpur Thal 07, Chakwal, Shorkor 06, Toba Tek Singh 05, Kasur, Gujranwala 04, Sargodha, Okara, Bahawalnager 03, Narowal, Faisalabad, R.Y. Khan, Sahiwal 02, Hafizabad 01 millimeter shower while had got Muzaffarabad 24, Rawalakot 20, Kotli 16, Garidupatta 15 millimeter rain.In Balochistan Kalat had received 17, Barkhan 11, Zhob 10, Quetta 09, in Sindh Moenjodaro, Larkana 08, Jacobabad 09, Dadu 04, Sukkur, Rohri 02, Padidan received 01milimeter rain. Rain reported from Gilgit-Baltistan was two millimeter in Gupis 02, Astore and Chillas 01. Malam Jabba received 4.0 and Murree 1.0 snowfall.BARA: The district administration rescued two students from flood in Ziarey area in Landikotal in Khyber district on Monday.Reports said two students identified as Romail and Mujeebur Rehman were going home from school when they were swept away by flash floods.
