Pakistan offers to host OIC FMs moot in 2021
DUBAI: Pakistan delegation head and Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Raja Ali Ejaz has offered to host the 48th session of the OIC of foreign ministers in Islamabad in 2021.The Pakistan envoy was addressing the closed working session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation's (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in Abu Dhabi. During the closed working sessions, all the member states of the OIC are allowed to record their statements.“As we remain committed to charter of objectivity of the OIC ..... I wholeheartedly invite you all to the beautiful capital of our homeland, Islamabad”, Raja Ejaz extended the offer for the OIC members.Although, Pakistan delegation didn’t attend the opening plenary session and boycotted the inauguration of the 46th session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation's (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) due to Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj’s presence in the gathering.But, the delegation attended the rest of the sessions at the event after the address of the Indian foreign minister and her departure from the main hall. Pakistan’s seating arrangements were kept between the delegation of Iran and Bahrain in the conference.During the closed working session, Raja Ejaz assured the participants that Pakistan can address the formidable challenges of today and tomorrow for unity, peace, progress and prosperity of our peoples.In the opening and 2nd session of the conference, Pakistan as the representative of the Asian group, had to address in the opening session of the conference but it couldn’t deliver speech as the Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi boycotted the conference. So, Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani delivered the speech as representative of the Asian group.The Pakistan envoy Raja Ali Ejaz was also reluctant to speak with media while terming the border-situation as “very tense”. While, Saudi Arabia represented the Arab group of the OIC and Republic of Gabon represented the African group. The foreign ministers of both the countries delivered the speeches on the challenges of their regions.On Saturday, the joint press conference by the chair of the 46th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers and Secretary General of the OIC will be held where “Abu Dhabi Declaration” would be announced.http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/com/cwEr/~4/sEsITjuqPBQ
