Hamza allowed extension in London stay
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday granted permission to Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz to extend his stay in London for further 14 days after his counsel said the petitioner had to take care of his newborn daughter.Previously, the court had allowed Hamza to visit his wife in London for 10 days and he was supposed to return on February 13. However, he moved the court for extension in his stay abroad. Advocate Azam Nazir Tarar appeared on behalf of Hamza and argued that the newborn daughter of the petitioner underwent a cardiac procedure due to complication at the time of birth. He said the petitioner had to take care of not only his newborn daughter but also his wife in London. Therefore, he asked the court to permit the petitioner to prolong his stay in London saying that he would return after the treatment of his daughter completed. A government law officer, however, opposed the contention and argued that the petitioner should have returned to the country within the time limit given by the court.Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan accepted the application and allowed Hamza Shahbaz to stay with his family in London for another 14 days. In his main petition, Hamza had approached the court against being placed on Passport Control List/Black List pleading he wanted to visit his ailing wife in UK. The petitioner through counsel contended that the interior ministry placed him in the black list in an arbitrary manner and in sheer violation of fundamental rights. The ministry of interior had placed Hamza on the no-fly list on the advice of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), which had been holding multiple inquiries against him. Hamza along with his father Shahbaz Sharif and brother Salman Shahbaz is facing multiple inquiries by the NAB, including Ramzan Sugar Mills road/drain construction and assets beyond means.http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/com/cwEr/~4/feoJnSioNlY
