Has my warmblood finally grown up, or is it just the heat?
He is 7 and until recently, has been very much the insecure baby. He would get overwhelmed and buck when life got too much for him, and couldn't cope with other horses going away from him. In the last couple of months, he has managed to jump calmly, in a balanced canter at shows a few times with no bucking, or jumping like a frightened dear. He has stopped reacting to faster horses leaving him behind. Yesterday, he went through a narrow overgrown gate on a hack, and the horse with him, refused to follow, and had a fit the other side of the hedge. He stood there with one foot resting, eating the hedge! I am hopeful this means we are coming out the other side, and he is finally growing up, but I don't know if it is just because it is too hot to play up at the moment, and we will be back to where we were once the weather cools down a bit. What do people think? Are your horses all being super chilled at the moment?
