NAB arrests CDA ex-chairman, member finance in corruption case
 

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi Tuesday arrested Imtiaz Inayat Elahi, ex-chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), and Saeedur Rehman, Member Finance, in the case of investigation against officers/officials and others regarding corruption in the construction of Cultural Complex at Shakarparian, Islamabad.
As per details, accused Imtiaz Inayat Elahi and Saeedur Rehman allegedly ordered stoppage of work on an ongoing project without cogent reason and misuse of authority, causing loss to the exchequer. It is to be mentioned that Saeedur Rehman was also a main accused in the multi-billion scam of the National Logistics Cell (NLC).
The multi-billion scam of the NLC was unearthed in the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) three years back when the committee was headed by Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. The committee was told that Rs4 billion was invested in the stock market and the NLC suffered a huge financial loss due to crash of the stock market.Imtiaz Inayat Elahi served as the CDA chairman from June 24, 2009 to December 9, 2011, after which he was posted as the secretary of the Capital Administration and Development Division. The accused was produced before the Accountability Court, Islamabad on Tuesday where seven days physical remand was granted to NAB for investigation as per law. Corruption in the construction of Cultural Complex at Shakarparian was also referred by the PAC to the NAB in 2015.
