MANSEHRA: Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, came down hard on the judiciary here on Friday, urging the judiciary to avoid speaking the language of Imran Khan against his family as she said if judiciary speaks the language of Imran Khan, it will have to face the same.
She called upon the people to take notice of their insult as ousting an elected prime minister is a disgrace to the public mandate, asking that what interpretation of the Constitution does abusing elected representatives make.
She said that her father would remain in hearts and minds of people as a saviour of the country. "It does not a matter whether or not my father remains the chief of his party, he still rules the hearts and minds of his people and this great public sentiment is not being tolerated by those who ousted him from office," she told a social media convention in Baffa.
She entered the venue along with her husband Muhammad Safdar, who hails from Mansehra district. It was her first public meeting in Mansehra since her marriage with Captain Safdar. "Though this is a social media convention, it has been converted into a public gathering. The people still love and respect my father even though he is no more the prime minister," she said. Maryam Nawaz said that her father was not the one who committed contempt of court rather those who expelled him from his office, were the ones who did so. "For how long this nation would witness the executions and disqualifications of the prime ministers. The one who stands on containers and curses the judiciary is not even put on notice to clarify his position," she questioned.
Maryam Nawaz seemed confident and said the judges never clarified their position after delivering verdicts on merit. "The judges never speak or clarify their decisions as actions speak louder than words," she added.
She said the Lodhran by-election was a referendum where people defeated conspirators and paved the way for the success of a soldier of Nawaz Sharif. "We will emerge victorious in the upcoming general elections and those who ousted Nawaz Sharif will be left scratching their heads," she believed.Maryam Nawaz believed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf would face a crushing defeat in the next general elections as its leader Imran Khan was a liar. PML-N provincial head Amir Muqam and other leaders also spoke on the occasion.
